The nitty, gritty details
hOW IT ALL WORKS
01
OUR PROCESS
After you fill out an inquiry on the contact page, we will email you a consult form to fill out with all your details. This is the bread and butter of the operation. It’s chock full of information to think about and consider…even if most of your answers might be “I’m not sure!”.
02
let’s chat!
During our consult (either in person, or over the phone if you are not local to Baltimore) we will discuss any ideas, dreams, wishes, inspirations for your big day in terms of paper details. Together with review paper samples, swatches, colors, fonts and wording. Once we have those details, we will present you with an estimate of costs. After the consultation, you will receive an estimate for the design discussed.
04
colors, scripts and art…oh my!
Our favorite stage! We will begin the design of your suite and send you a pdf proof for you to review within one week upon receiving the deposit. You will see a proof of every single card in your suite…from the invitation down to the return address on the rsvp envelope and everything in between.
05
we approve!
Once you are completely happy with the designs, we will send a final proof for your review and approval. This is when we suggest a fresh set of eyes to look over each card to check spelling, grammar, times, locations…etc. Once we have your “it’s perfect!” approval, we will prepare your files for the printer. Upon final approval, the remaining balance will be due.
06
printing & assembly
Generally speaking, printing takes about 2 weeks for flat printing, 3-4 weeks for letterpress. Once printed and back in our studio, we will fully assemble your invitations (along with stamping your rsvp envelope) which typically takes about 1-2 weeks depending on the complexity of the assembly. Your invitations will be bundled up and ready for you to bring to a post office for mailing. Don’t worry, we will walk you through the mailing process.
a Few common questions…
when/how soon should we meet?
In a perfect world, we like to meet a year out from the wedding if we are designing your save the dates. If we are only designing invitations, we would love to meet with you at least 7-9 months out from the big day. We have done invitations from start to finish in 9 days before (can be done, but not recommended!), but most couples we work with fall in the 6-9 months time frame.
How Many invitations should I order?
When determining a quantity, remember the rule of invitation per household/couple and NOT each individual guest. For example, with a guest list of 200, you might only need 100 invitations. We do recommend ordering AT LEAST 10 extra invitations to account for any last minute additions.
When should I mail?
Typically, save the dates are mailed anywhere from 6-9 months from your wedding date. Invitations are mailed 8 weeks (we prefer 10 weeks) from your wedding date. Our process takes about 2-3 months to design, print, and assemble your wedding invitations.
“…nothing short of delightful.”
If you are looking for incredible paper products, look no further! Susan created the most gorgeous designs for our save the dates, invitations suite, and day-of paper products. Anything you can dream up, she can do it! Many of our invitees remarked that it was the most beautiful invitation suite they had ever seen! Working with Susan is also nothing short of delightful. She is prompt and professional while also being warm and fun (she has the cutest little bulldog who peeked into a few of our appointments). I am certain that if you work with Susan for all your wedding paper products you will not be disappointed!
